About

Dr. Rita Smith has spent her career focusing on a passion to help others learn and grow.  For over 30 years, she has held senior executive talent development roles in global Fortune 500 companies. She concluded her internal corporate career serving 10 years as the Chief Learning Officer for Ingersoll Rand Corporation, where she was responsible for leadership/talent development strategies. Selected from over 10,000 leaders, she was the recipient of the company’s highest award: The Chairman’s Award for Leadership.  This prestigious recognition challenged the adage that “those who can do and those who can’t teach”.  Not only did she develop the leaders within the company, she was also a highly successful, practicing leader.  Her successful leadership experience helps her relate to the day-to-day leadership challenges facing her clients.  Prior to Ingersoll Rand, she held similar successful roles in a variety of industries: airline, financial services, high-tech, and manufacturing.

In addition to Dr. Smith's work experience, her educational background provides a rich springboard for highly effective coaching.  She completed a two-year classroom study and 100-hour, supervised practicum in executive coaching through the Coaches Training Institute.  She is a Certified Coach through the International Coaching Federation, the premier coaching credentialing organization.  A life-long learner, she has acquired additional certifications in assessment tools such as the Center for Creative Leadership 360-Degree Assessments and Hogan Assessments. She is a certified Leadership Architect Coach, Visual Coach, Retirement Coach, and Law of Attraction Coach.  She also works with executive teams, leveraging her Grove Consultant’s Visual Strategy Planning Certification.
